Ayia Napa (officially romanised Agia Napa; Greek: Αγία Νάπα [locally [aˈʝanːapa]]; Turkish: Aya Napa) is a resort at the far eastern end of the southern coast of Cyprus.
Today Ayia Napa is the largest tourist resort of Cyprus. With 27000 tourist bed capacity with more than 145 hotels and apartments of all sizes. The resort for 2017 is projected to welcome more than 700,000 tourist arrivals and approximately 5,000,000 night-stays. Which represent approximately 30% of all Cyprus nightstays. The city of Ayia Napa has the 7th largest budget of the 30 active municipalities of Cyprus and employs 230 persons. The government of Cyprus recognizing the importance of Ayia Napa to Cyprus economy has decided in 2014 to characterize Ayia Napa as urban area /center with decision number 76.990 on 15/May/2014 of the council of ministers a huge political victory credited to the attempts and the strategy of the Mayor of Ayia Napa Yiannis Karousos
